To operate, the device requires only direct current (DC) and utilizes the Peltier effect of semiconductor materials to actively pump heat from the cold end to the hot end. It uses no refrigerant, has no moving parts, and operates silently and vibration-free. The base is a ceramic substrate, typically made of alumina ceramic, which offers excellent electrical insulation and thermal conductivity.
